Early August 2014

I had an adventurous weekend that I thought I’d tell you about.

Friday I took a ‘mental health’ vacation day from work.  Needed it so bad (now I want another!).  Just took the day off to get some stuff done around the house and be away from work.

Anyway, that evening I went way out of my comfort zone and met new friends.  I had heard of a group that was doing outreach in the city and met once a month.  I couldn’t make it July but said I’d be there in August.  Sticking to my word, regardless of the massive amount of butterflies in my stomach, I went.  I was so nervous.  I mean, come on, I drove an hour away from home, to meet up with a group of people I had never met, at a place I had never been, and expected them to welcome me with open arms!  Who does that?  Me, apparently.  Glad/relieved to report that everything went well!  We had dinner (I didn’t eat, I was too nervous) and went to a worship service at a church that supports the group.  So, get that, I not only met up with a group of strangers to start with, I went to a church with people I had never met.  Oh my goodness.  I grew a lot that night, let me tell you!

And, yes, I plan to meet up with them again in September, when we’ll meet up with another ministry for some worship and prayer!  While Aug and Sept they aren’t doing outreach in the city, they will in Oct.,  these two meetings are giving me a chance to get to know some of the members.

Then, on Saturday, I went to the local botanical gardens, by my self.  It was so peaceful!  They are open for free to the local public from 7a – 9a on Wed & Sat mornings, and I just felt like going and taking some pictures.  Here are some of my favorites:

After that, I went to an MS support group that I belong too and later that evening we had a get together with the ladies from church at a local pool.

Sunday was church and I met up with a friend for lunch.  We hadn’t seen each other in a little bit, so it was nice to catch up.

I was supposed to go to a birthday party after that, but my body said ‘no’.  The MS fatigue got the best of me and I took a long nap.

Then I had to go back to work Monday 😦

Why did I share my weekend with you?  I brag on myself a little 😉  and to let you know it’s OK to try new things, even if it is by yourself!  Go do something new!!

I want to be as open as possible, safely anyway. If I've been set free in something, maybe I can encourage someone else to seek God and they can be free too!
